Totally nothing to do with nail varnish, but...

I saw this video this morning, and I must have watched it about 50 times already. It's so adorable, but so mean!

Another Day, Another Attempt

I got bored and decided to have another go with my Konad stuff. This is Rimmel Black Satin (which only cost me 79p, bargain!) stamped over OPI Glitzerland. I'm really loving this combination!

Also, in other news, I got my laptop back today ^_^ It feels so weird, and so huge compared to my netbook. It looks good as new now, too. The only bad thing is that while it was being fixed, PC World wiped everything off my laptop :( and they lost my charger in the process too. But oh well, I'll sort it out eventually!

Saturday, 20 August 2011

This was my first attempt at stamping with Konad, I was just playing around and did it over the nail varnish I already had on. I used the M57 plate, with Zoya Raven stamped over Zoya Gilda. It wasn't the best polish to stamp with, but it's all I had. I'm going to spend the next few hours trying to find out which are best to use. I'm undecided about buying Konad special polishes, because I won't be able to use them for anything else but stamping (afaik!) but we'll see.

Anyway, here are the results!

I really like it! The Konad image plates are a much better size for me than the Bundle Monster ones. I'll definitely be getting some more image plates in the not too distant future.

But I am also the best sister ever.

My brother (who is 18) came home this afternoon is a major rage, saying that he'd been paying for something in the corner shop and handed over two £20 notes folded up by accident. He didn't notice until he'd gone out of the shop and when he went back to tell the cashier about it, they guy told him that he hadn't only given him one and to ''just do one.'' My brother goes in there all the time and he's really not the type to lie about things like that.

So, I went over to the shop to sort it out, asked the guy what had happened who was adamant that he'd only been given £20. Anyway, long story short, I said that I wanted to see the boss and that I wanted them to let me know what they'd cashed up for the evening so I could go back and talk to them again. I went back, the owner (the cashier's dad) said they were out by £20, so my brother was right all along. That or it was a freaky coincidence.

I'm so pleased that I got the money back for my brother, and that at least one person at the shop was honest, but I'm fucking fuming that the guy on the till lied to my face about making sure there was only one note there and making a massive point about saying that he unfolds and smooths out every note every time to make sure he's been given the right amount.

Zoya Charla

I'm trying out some of my new polishes! Today I picked Zoya Charla and I just love it. It's a beautiful turquiose-blue colour with green glitter. It's so pretty, my photos do not do is justice!

In artificial light:
In natural light (but no sun, sadly!)
Ahhhhh, I just love it. It's my birthday next week so as one of my presents my mum and dad have given me some money to buy more Zoya nail varnish and get it shipped over from America. Can't wait!

Thanks for reading!

The Amazing Package I Recieved This Morning!

I signed up for a nail polish exchange, called Secret Astronaut this time, on tPF all the way back in April. Last week my partner/little alien got her parcel, and today the postman brought me mine!

Here they all are, lined up together in their cute space themed wrapping paper:

My amazing Secret Astronaut was Brandy!
Trust me, it took a lot of work opening all these goodies! :)

The first ones I opened were these, Today Was A Fairytale and Boom Boom Pow by Deborah Lippmann. I've been lusting after these for ages and I was so shocked and surprised, and thrilled that she picked out both of them for me!
Next up is NYC Starry Silver Glitter, which looks lovely and is in keeping with the space theme!
Then I opened these and four Zoyas popped out! I am so thrilled with these!!! I don't know if any of you noticed, but yesterday I made a list of all the Zoya polishes I liked best. It just so happens that Valerie, Sarah and Charla were at the top of my wishlist! I think my SA must secretly be psychic!

I also got a emery board, some hand cream and hand gel.
I am absolutely overjoyed with everything that Brandy sent me, I really am. I can't wait to try everything out!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!

Pretty, Pretty Purple!

Hello! Sorry for the massive silence over the last week or so. It was mainly due to the fact I lost my camera charger, mainly due to the fact one of my pens exploded and stained my entire left hand black, and mainly because I'm bored of the nail polishes I have and haven't really been wanting to wear any.

I found my camera, so I decided to break out another holo, this time China Glaze Octagon Wild.

Who'd have thought you could get sick of holos, ey?

In natural light:
In artificial light:

Looks pretty, right? This polish is a pain in the arse to apply, and it's starting to peel of my index finger already! However, even my dad said how much he liked this colour, and trust me, he's not the type to comment on nail varnish! So I guess it's worth it. It also reminds me a lot of DS Original, but with more chunky particles.

I forgot to add, guess who bought some Bundle Monster plates? Yay!

From now on I am officially on the hunt for amazing silver, gold and bronze polishes that are good for stamping. So if you know of any then please, please, please let me know!

My First Zoya Purchase

Today has been such a rubbish day. Everything has gone wrong, things I say keep being taken totally out of context and I seriously can't seem to get anything right. To add to that, I'm having a bad hair day and a bad face day, my skin has gone all dry over night and I just generally feel really awful.

On the plus side, I'm trying out my newest purchase and I love it! This is Zoya Reva! Reva is a raspberry red colour with tons of copper-gold shimmer. It's just lovely.

I was out in the garden, so I thought I would take advantage of the last bit of sunlight to try and show you the amazing shimmer, in the nice green grass of course, because everyone does (or should!) like grass:

I love this polish. Really. I do have a teeny bit of tip wear, but that's more to do with the topcoat I used (damn you Nubar!) and not wrapping my tips, but I'll remember that for next time.

Glitter In The Air!

Here we are! Finally got around to wearing this...

In natural light:

 In artificial light:

This was 2 coats, over 2 coats of OPI Bubble Bath. Next time I'll try it over something more opaque, but for now, I actually really like how this looks. The visible nail line ruins it slightly though!

Thanks for reading! Have a nice afternoon :)

The One That Slipped The Net

This is from a few days ago, when I forgot to update! This is Sexagon, a very light purple/silver holo. It's one of my favourites out of the set!

In artificial light:
In natural light:

This is an old photo, I think it's from when I was still living in uni halls, the holo shows up really nicely though :)
I just love it!

Thank you for reading, I'll be posting more photos of newer nails polishes that are actually still available soon, I promise! Sorry if I'm boring you all the hard to find ones instead.

China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Quite possibly my favourite nail polish ever!

In artificial light:
In daylight (omg, it's actually sunny!)

Ruby Pumps has a red jelly base, with red glitter suspended in it. It's truly lovely. Red is most definitely my favourite colour, but I really love that this is a jelly too. It looks so shiny as squishy. And it perfectly matches the red cardi I'm making.

This is 2 generous coats, with Dior top coat. My bottle is going slightly goopy now as it's down to the very last bit, I'd usually do 3 thin coats.

Thanks for reading :)

Let's Do It In 3D

Let's Do It In 3D is a gun metal grey holo. And I really, really don't like it. It looks so nice in the bottle, but not on my nails.

It's rainy and overcast outside today, so these are in artificial light only:

It took me a while to work out why I didn't like it, and what it reminded me of...

That's all for now, hopefully I'm not boring you all with all my holo polishes!

How About A Tumble?

I'm home, I have all my nail polishes here so I'm going to be blogging more and posting more photos! Yay! I'm also thinking of getting some Konad and/or Bundle Monster stamping plates to play with soon.

Anyway, today's nail colour is China Glaze How About A Tumble from the Kaleidoscope collection. It's a gorgeous, cool toned pink. I really like this, really really. Please excuse the horrid bits of skin around my nails.

In artificial light:

 In natural light:

I used Nubar Diamont Shine topcoat, which was a bad move. It dulled down the holographic-ness of it and it's started peeling off already! Next time I think I'll just forget the top coat.

Miscellaneous ranting...

I ordered my Deborah Lippmann polish after all, it arrived, it is beautiful. Worth all the pennies I spent on it and more. I ordered some nail polish from to go under it so I could use it as a topcoat, seen as the other half of my collection is at home. After an entire weekend wondering where it was, my mum sent me a text to say it's back at home. I have changed my postage address on there so many bloody times, and they still can't get it right!

Also, I've been using OPI Nail Envy Matte for a week now and my nails are even worse than when I started. I wanted to try it out because my thumb nails keep breaking, but now I have nails that are breaking and peeling to boot, but I'll go into more detail with photos another day. To say it cost £18.99 I'm pretty appauled with it. I think I'm going to start doing proper reviews too, just for fun. I've had so many nail varnish failures recently it's not funny.

In other news, I really really really want to try out some Zoya polishes. I have none, I'm sorely tempted to get some posted over from an American website, they're only $6 but they're £9 a bottle here. Insane!

Well, er... That's all for now. The new series of the Apprentice is calling! Goodnight,

Amy x

Glitter in the Air?

Firstly, I need to say that I am in so much pain right now. My brother was swinging on his chair at the dining table this evening and all 11 stone of him (plus chair) came crashing straight down on my little toe! I have never screamed so much in my entire life. It hurts so much and it happened like an hour ago... :( Also, I'm going back to Geordie land tomorrow because I have some exams, not really looking forward but it's only for two weeks. At least the Scouse gob-shite (flatmate that I don't like) has already left! Which makes things slightly better.

Anyway, moving on... Deborah Lippmann - Glitter in the Air.

I've wanted this for so long. I've heard it's got really bad application problems but when people get it right it looks so nice that I just had to have it.

It is a really sheer, barely there baby blue with baby blue and baby pink glitter. There are tons of photos where people have layered it over baby pink and baby blue nail polish and it looks gorgeous!

I haven't paid for it *yet* though, just waiting to see how much postage is but if it's too much and I can't get it I will be so disappointed.

OPI Designer Series

I really didn't understand why there was so much hype around the DS range, especially after being so underwhelmed by DS Magic. £14.99 for a nail polish that's just more glittery than usual? No thanks.

However, it wasn't until I came across swatches from the first 12 colours that I fell in love! My first purchases were an eBay bargain at £5.50 each! DS Signature, a gorgeous fuchsia with tons of holographic sparkle, and another lighter pink with the same holo loveliness. The label was missing so I'm not sure of the shade, but it looks a lot like DS Chiffon.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Here is DS Signature:

Since then, I've been constantly on the look out for more holos. DS Original was a total must have for me, and I was lucky enough to find it on eBay too, but for $25 inc postage, eek! It's so nice that it was worth it though. Since then I've managed to find another bottle to put away for the sad day when I start running out of it.

DS Original, a lovely lavender-purple holo:

That's all for now, have a lovely day!

A few swatches from the China Glaze Kaleidoscope collection!

The China Glaze Kaleidoscope collection was released a few years ago, in 2006 according to Wikipedia but I'm not sure how accurate that is, and there is still so much hype about it even now. People on various nail polish forums I browse are paying ridiculous amounts per bottle, the same can be said for remaining bottles from the OMG collection that keep cropping up on eBay.

The Kaleidoscope collection is made up of 12 beautiful holographic shades, I was lucky enough to find the whole set (apart from one) I will swatch them all eventually but haven't go around to wearing them all yet.

The colours include:
  • Tickle My Triangle - a dark pink, fuchsia holo.
  • Don't Be A Square - a medium pink holo.
  • Rated Holographic - a peachy-pink holo.
  • Spin Me Round - a tan, almost coffee coloured holo. One of my personal favourites!
  • It's My Turn - a  gold coloured holo.
  • How About A Tumble? - a pretty, light purple holo.
  • Octa-Gone Wild - a purple holo, not too dissimilar to OPI DS Original.
  • He's Going In Circles - a light aqua, sea-foam green holo.
  • Kaleidoscope Him Out - light blue holo.
  • Visit Me In Prism - a really light lavender-silvery purple holo.
  • Sexagon - silver holo.
  • Let's Do It In 3-D - dark grey/black holo.

Here they are, the only one that's missing is 'Tickle My Triangle.'

First up, He's Going In Circles:

I really love this colour, I'm just not sure I love it on me, which is a shame.
I'm not going to lie, all of these polishes are a pain in the arse to apply. They are really thin and dry quickly, but they need at least 3 coats to look their best. If you're not careful they drag really, really badly so it's best to give each coat at least 15 minutes to dry even though they feel dry to the touch within seconds.

I will post photos of the rest as and when I wear them.

Thanks for reading,
